Welcome to the website of the India Passport and Visa Services Centre in Australia

Please finalize your travel arrangements only after you obtain an appropriate visa. Please note that the validity of a visa starts from the date of issue and not the date of travel.

The India Passport and Visa Services Centre is officially authorized by the High Commission of India, Canberra, Australia.

  • To accept applications for all categories of Visa, Passport, PIO ( Persons of Indian Origin) & OCI ( Overseas Citizen of India)
  • To collect related fees and service charges
  • To return documents to applicants

Applications will be accepted as per the jurisdictions specified by the High Commission /Consulates. All applications will be assessed and adjudicated by the visa officers at the High Commission of India, Canberra, and the Consulate General of India in Sydney and Melbourne in accordance with the Government of India-visa/immigration policy. Applicants are solely responsible for the applications they submit. Any false documents or other misrepresentation of information in support of their application will have a direct bearing on the judgment of their application by the High Commission of India and its Consulate General in Australia.

  • The High Commission & Consulates follow a mixture of prescribed Indian and Australian holidays. The VFS Centers do the same. To ensure that you do not visit the office on a closed holiday, check the holiday schedule of the VFS Service Centre where you are applying before visiting it.
  • Processing times vary depending on various considerations. Please check relevant processing times
  • Applicants sending their documents by Post/Courier are requested to ensure that they are completed and meet requirements. Incomplete applications will lead to an increase in processing time and applicants will need to comply with any changes in the procedure that may occur during this time
  • If you need a new passport on an emergency basis, a handwritten passport valid for one year can be issued, but this cannot be extended further. For emergency passports, click here
  • OCI and PIO cards cannot be issued on an emergency basis; apply for a visa instead if you do not have time to wait for OCI/PIO to be processed.
  • Services are granted at the discretion of the Government of India. Fees are not refundable.
